Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22nd, 1985 in New York City New York) is a star who has been praised for her performance abilities in a variety of various genres from historical dramas, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson was born in New York City, and was raised there by her producer father and architect mother. She and her twin brother Hunter were the youngest of four siblings. From a young age, she developed an interest in acting. She started auditioning for commercials at age seven. Soon after she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and afterwards was a student at the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to improve her acting skills. She first made an appearance as an actress on film in North (1994) at the age of nine. When she was eight years old, she performed alongside Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson later appeared as a character in Just Cause (1995) but her first breakthrough came with Manny & Lo (1996) an upcoming film that follows abandoned sisters who escape. For The Horse Whisperer, Johansson played a teenage victim of an horrific crash. Her role in Ghost World, 2001 as the rebellious teenager Rebecca received her more attention.
